マッカートニー、ストーンズ、ギャラガー兄弟らUKのライブ・シーンを支援し公開書簡

英国のコンサート・プロモーターズ・アソシエーションが、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大で打撃を受けるライブ・ミュージック業界への支援を求め、同国の文化大臣（デジタル・文化・メディア・スポーツ省）へ宛てた公開書簡に、ポール・マッカートニー、ザ・ローリング・ストーンズ、ロッド・スチュワート、ジェフ・ベック、ニック・メイスン、レイ・デイヴィス、レディオヘッド、ノエル＆リアム・ギャラガー兄弟ら1,500ものアーティストが署名した。

手紙では、「UKのライブ・ミュージックはこの数十年間にわたり、社会的、文化的、経済的にこの国最大級の成功の1つであり続けてきた。世界中に知られているフェスティバルから画期的な公演まで、ライブ・ミュージック業界は世界トップ・クラスの才能を紹介、支援、成長させてきた」とその存在意義や貢献について改めて知らしめ、公演が開けないいま、多くの人たちが職を失っており、政府からのサポートがなければ破綻が相次ぎ「この素晴らしい英国の業界が終わりを迎える」と訴えた。

手紙にはアーティストほかコンサート会場、プロダクション会社らも署名している。



これに対し、オリヴァー・ダウデン文化大臣は「音楽界で働く人たちが深刻な不安を抱き、再開できる確実な日程を知りたいとの欲求があることは理解しています」とつぶやき、日程や明確な行程表を伝えられるよう尽力すると返答している。



個々にアーティスト、クルー、エージェント、プロモーター、会場らへの支援を表明しているミュージシャンもおり、ノエル・ギャラガ―は「ライブ・ミュージックは守られなければならない！」と、デヴィッド・ギルモアは「ミュージシャン＆音楽ファンと一緒に、この危機の中、政府にライブ・ミュージック業界をサポートするよう求める」とつぶやいている。

















あのグラストンベリー・フェスティバルでさえ、最近、開催を中止したことで困難な状況にあると明かしていた。
