デヴィッド・ボウイ、キンクスのライナーノートを執筆

デヴィッド・ボウイが、キンクスのデビュー50周年を記念し来月北米で発売されるベスト盤『The Essential Kinks』のライナーノートを執筆したという。ボウイは「好きじゃないキンクスの曲なんて聴いたことがない」そうだ。

ボウイのオフィシャル・サイト（Davidbowie.com）では、ライナーノートの一部を公開。「当然のこと、そのノイジーで向こう見ずな始まりから、ザ・キンクスは永続性があり心をわしづかみにするポップの最たるものとなった。彼らは、彼らに続いた英国のソングライター全ての中に息づいている。全ポップ&ロックの礎石であるのは明らかだ。僕は彼らを愛している。世界は彼らを愛している」と綴っている。

ボウイはこれまでキンクスの「Where Have All The Good Times Gone」（1973年『Pin Ups』収録）、「Waterloo Sunset」（2003年『Reality』日本盤ボーナス・トラック）をカバーしたことがあり、2003年に行われたチベット・ハウス・ベネフィット・コンサートでレイ・デイヴィスと共演している。

48曲入りの『The Essential Kinks』は、10月14日に北米でリリースされる。
