ブリット・アワーズ、2018年注目の新人賞候補3人を発表
英国最大の音楽アワード＜Brit Awards＞が、その年の活躍が期待される新人アーティストへ贈る賞Critics’ Choiceの2018年度の候補3アーティストを発表した。
100以上のアーティストの中から選ばれたのは、ラッパー、シンガー、ソングライターとマルチな才能を持つStefflon Don、ネナ・チェリーの末娘Mabel、R&BシンガーのJorja Smith。2008年にCritics’ Choiceが設立されてから初めて候補者全員が女性アーティストとなった。
Stefflon Donはすでに6月にリリースしたフレンチ・モンタナをフィーチャーする「Hurtin’ Me」が全英7位をマーク。数年前から注目されていたMabelもシングル「Finders Keepers」が8位とヒットした。Jorja Smithはまだ20歳ながら、ドレイクの最新作『More Life』の制作に参加するほどの実力の持ち主。

2017年のCritics’ Choiceは、Rag’n’Bone Manが受賞し、2月に発表した彼のデビュー・アルバム『Human』は初登場で1位（全英）に輝き、その後33週間トップ10に留まり続けた。
Critics’ Choiceはこれまで、彼のほか、アデル（2008年）、フローレンス＆ザ・マシーン（2009年）、エリー・ゴールディング（2010年）、ジェシー・J（2011年）、エミリー・サンデー（2012年）、トム・オデール（2013年）、サム・スミス（2014年）、ジェイムス・ベイ（2015年）、ジャック・ガラット（2016年）が受賞している。
2018年度の受賞者は12月4日に発表される。
